Scholars will engage in morning ELA and Math instruction.
Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in experiences throughout inner city Indianapolis (bowling, roller skating, Escape Room Indianapolis, Great Times, Newfields, State Museum, Indianapolis Zoo, and Children’s Museum). A final *culminating trip to Kings Island to conclude the experience. In addition, students will receive instruction on step dance, robotics, Summer Readers Workshop (Graphic novels, Rosewaters, other YA reads), attend College Visits, partake in a Ceramics Workshop, and take the Knowledge Assessment (entrance exam to Ivy Tech).
JA Finance Park Virtual will provide students hands-on lessons in personal finance management. This in-school classroom-based program provides a first-hand understanding of the economic issues they will face upon high school graduation. When students arrive at the virtual simulation, they receive a life scenario including a job, salary, and family situation to use as the basis of their simulation experience. With their “real-life avatars”, they learn how to construct and adhere to a personal budget – including housing, food, savings, transportation, entertainment, healthcare, utilities, clothing, and education.
*The culminating Kings Island Trip will be based on overall attendance and only students with 95%+ attendance will be able to attend the trip.
